Does Word 2010 Have the Option of Adding Multiple Headers and Footers? However, unfortunately, there is no direct way via which you can add a dissimilar header and footer on every page of a Word document in 2010, although you have the option of different header and footer to be added on odd and even pages. [Instructor] If you have information you want to appear repeated at the top or bottom of every page in a document, the last thing you want to do is add that yourself at the top or bottom of every single page. Instead, you should use headers and footers which we're going to explore in this movie with our Tech Connect document 0502 if you're catching up. The header is the area at the top of your page. The footer is the area outside the margin at the bottom of your page. And by default, anything you add to those areas will be repeated in the same spot at the bottom or top of every other page in your document. So let's say with our Tech Connect document, we wanted to put in some copyright information in the top right corner of every page. All we have to do is access the header area. The easiest way to do that is to simply double-click up there. You can see with the ruler showing, the gray shaded area represents where the margin is. All we have to do is double-click above that, say up here, near the very top of the page. Go ahead, and you can see it opens up the header for section one. Our document is one single section. Next, we want our cursor over here on the right-hand side. If yours isn't, you just simply go to the Home tab and make sure right-aligned is selected. And then type in whatever it is that needs to appear there, like Copyright 2019. Now, let's scroll down to the bottom of the page. We see the footer area. And we also see the header section at the top of the next page already contains what we've typed. In the footer, we might want something there as well, could even be page numbering. Clicking down here allows us to type whatever we want. We wouldn't type in the number one for page one because one would appear at the bottom of every page. Instead, we want to code for the page numbering. And you may have noticed, when you access headers and footers, there's a header and footer tools tab that appears with a context-sensitive ribbon down below under Design with a number of options, including way over here to the left-hand side, Page Numbering. Click the Page Number drop-down, and we want this at the bottom of the page. So we go to that option, and you can see a number of presets that we can choose from: some of them just numbers with different alignment, some include the word 'Page', some the abbreviation for page, some will total up the total number of pages and show 'Page X of Y' for example. And as we scroll down, some include graphics as well. Let's say we want this one here with the tildes on either side of it. All we have to do is select it. It's going to be centered at the bottom of our page. And as we scroll down to the next page, you can see it appears there as well. Now it does take up space on your page, so you might see things get misaligned. We're suddenly taking up room on the page and things will shift down. We can also reformat this. Let's select it, and let's change the font size. We'll click the size drop-down here and go to something much smaller, like maybe nine, for example. Select that, scroll down. You can see things are still not quite fitting. We can adjust our margins, but it does look good at the bottom and top of every page. All right, so when we're done, all we have to do is double-click outside the header or footer in our document. It closes that up, and you can see what that looks like. What if we didn't want it though at the top and bottom of the first page? Just the first page because it's more of a title page. Well, that is an option as well.
